Accountable Care Organizations

While Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) have not been fully defined yet, a general concept from the Health Policy Brief of Health Affairs, Robert Wood Johnson foundation suggests, “Networks of physicians and other providers that could work together to improve the quality of healthcare services and reduce costs for a defined patient population.”

Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP)

Significant modifications were made to the initial, proposed rule, including allowing FQHCs and RHCs to participate in or form independent ACOs. See a comparison table of the proposed rule versus the final role here
